He's here! Bigger than life itself. Little Oliver was born
at our home in Oakland at 1:55am Sunday March 14th. He's 8lbs.
2oz and 20.5" long. Lesli and
he are just absolutely perfect!

Big News...
Howdy vD's et all,
Any rumors you may have heard are TRUE. We're expecting an addition to our household in March. We're reasonably out-of-our-minds with excitement as I'm sure you can imagine. And yes, it's true I cried (just for a minute) when I heard the heartbeat for the first time.
The first ultrasound went off without a hitch. No, we don't (and won't) know the child's gender until the big moment. Lesli's looking round and more beautiful than ever. She's feeling great (only 4wks of feeling icky early on) and our honeymoon to Italy, Greece and Turkey was great for us both.
Prospective Great Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, etc. can meet the

(don't worry we're not naming the child 'Magoolet'-it's our code
name for the baby-named after Les's nickname 'Magoo').

looks more like Jon after being up all night. Lesli, how many
hours of labor
did you have? Could you compare labor to climbing a hill, with

breaks inbetween? Average length of labor is 13hrs. Loryn took
me 4 days!
Kevin took 2 hours. What a difference.
Lesli, are you sleeping much inbetween feeding times? This is
the hardest and most wonderful time. Waiting for the milk to come,
and settling in on the every 2 hr schedule. Whew! I know you two
are busy but on cloud #9. Can't wait to meet the newest family

What a wonderful thing that we all got to see how we became
as adults!
You know Stacy did home births with both of her kids. I know very
few people who have done it, but the old Open class gang has a
high
percentage! I will be gone for two weeks, but only four days with
Kim. I have another close friend who now lives in Rome, plus a
few days in
Positano on the Amalfi Coast with the friends I'll travel over
with. It's funny because the friend who lives in Rome went with
me to Kim's
wedding in 1990 and she met a man on the trip. And this is why
she is
now living over there! Started out with the guy long distance
and now
live together. Amazing. Enjoy the tears and try to get some sleep
too! :-)

Hi, Choked up seems to be the way of the last few days. I've never cried as many happy, choked up tears ever, even at our wedding where I cried like a baby. My mom brought over a scrap book of baby pictures yesterday (Oliver is a dead ringer for his dad at 0-6 mos) and we were looking at school pictures. email back from Kim that they'd heard the news (via email). Please
do send our hellos to everyone there, including Asunta and Stefano
(the folks who run the bed and breakfast adjacent). Please do
call or write when you're ready for information on home births.
We'd be happy to share our experience with you and Frank. The
idea scared the shit out of me at first but as we got more information
and talked to more and more folks, it really seemed like the right
choice for us. I just couldn't be more proud of Lesli --what a

I got to hold my brand new grandson, Oliver, today - he is very
good boy indeed! And, that was pure pleasure - thank you both
for your confidence and kindness. I do need pictures when they
are available - I'd like one of the three of you to cheer up "my"
home. Nice to see Barbara, tell her hi and how neat all her bedding
