Mr.Dexter,
Just a quick update on the Merriewood stairways.Yesterday(11-7-00) I
personally checked all five flights of strairway in the Merriewood area.
The three sections of stairway from the bottom at Merriewood to the top at
Abbot drive are in extremely poor condition and need to remain closed for
the public's safety, until full repairs are made.

The two sections of stairway from Thornhill to Marden Lane, and from Marden
Lane to Merriewood are in relatively good shape except for needed cleaning
and minor repairs.The Maintenance Services Department will start work on
these two sections on november 9, and expects to complete this work by early
next week, weather permitting.
